Teaching Improv 3: The Math of Game

Bandit Theater is thrilled to invite you to Improv 3: The Math of Game taught by Mary C. Parker.

Only 14 spots available, reserve your spot for $300 online! Class will meet from 7:00pm - 9:30 pm on Tuesdays April 8th - May 27th at Theater Puget Sound (Armory 4th Floor, 305 Harrison St, Seattle).

Improv 3: The Math of Game

Improv 3: The Math of Game is an 8-week longform improv class and the third level of Bandit Theater’s Improv Training Program. Open to all students that have completed Improv 2: Playing the Game Together.

Stretch yourself and explore advanced topics in longform improv! This class will deepen and refine your understanding of Game by unpacking the theory behind great scenes. In Improv 3 you'll expand your focus from individual scenes to weaving together entire shows through time-dash and analogous second beats. You'll try out new kinds of gameplay, learning how to pull Premise from an opening and launch straight into the Game. You'll learn to use the authentic voice of reason and character philosophy to select between common comedic structures. And finally you'll get in lots of reps, developing your skills and becoming the sort of improviser who's a treat to perform with.

In this class you will:

  • Deepen your understanding of Game as well as how to support and communicate it through different scene structures.

  • Explore the role of the voice of reason in Game.

  • Learn how to perform Premise-based longform improv.

  • Perform in and analyze tons of scenes.

  • Get individualized attention and notes in a positive, professional manner.

  • LAUGH UNTIL YOUR FACE HURTS.

Additionally, all Bandit Theater improv classes include the following:

  • Bandit Theater student passes, releasing unsold tickets to Bandit Theater mainstage shows to students for free!

  • Optional live performance opportunities in The Hot Hot Suggie Show, our staff-and-student mashup showcase.

Improv 3 is taught by Mary C. Parker.
