Consulting

‘Be open to the unexpected’ might well be the motto for what can be experienced and learned through a Just Collaboration workshop. Members of Staten Island’s creative community are grateful to have had the chance to learn how to break out of well-worn paths of communication, collaboration, and engagement and think more expansively and unconventionally. Thank you to Mary for encouraging us to play, have fun, and be open!

USING IMPROV TO COMBAT EVERYDAY  MICROAGGRESSIONS

How can you challenge microaggressions in your workplace? Through understanding the basics of improv, “Yes and” as a way to listen when triggered and feel empowered to intervene in uncomfortable situations, participants will strategize how to challenge microaggressions.

CHALLENGING WHITE SUPREMACY IN THE WORKPLACE USING THEATRE OF THE OPPRESSED

IMPACT OF RACE AND IMPLICIT BIAS

What role does bias play in hiring, communication, and collaboration? How can we influence the stories we tell ourselves about others to clarify our own power and privilege? Together participants will address the role oppression plays in our decision-making process in producing workplace bias.

UNDERSTANDING INTERSECTIONALITY: HOW IDENTITIES INFLUENCE THE WORKPLACE

Who are you at work and how do those multiple identities impact your experience? Through exploring the multitude of the identities we carry we can develop a deeper sense of self while developing empathy and compassion for others resulting in more emotionally intelligent work culture.

APPLYING IMPROV TO LEADERSHIP

Improv is listening and collaboration which leads to creativity and collaboration. How can these tenants of improv be applied to increase your skills as a leader? Through taking time to play, leaders can get out of their head and focus on what is happening in the present moment.

Telling the Untold Stories in the Workplace

What are you curious to learn more about from your employees? In this interactive workshop, participants can share anonymous stories from their workplace based on a theme selected by you. These stories will inspire an improv set to highlight the untold stories of your workplace followed by a talkback to disucuss the show.

Testimonials

The exercises and discussions through which you led us were perfectly tailored for us. You made conversations that had the potential to be confronting and uncomfortable, perfectly safe.

Mary C. Parker is a skilled facilitator that is able to use her own experience from her identities to encourage participants to engage in all parts of the workshop. She used real-world examples to put learning into action, and I left with a deeper understanding of anti-racism and its accompanying approaches.
