Rates
To create fair and equitable pricing, Mary C. Parker offers tiered pricing for her public playshops. The rates are comparable to fees charged by other Improv teachers and Applied Improvisation practitioners who deliver workshops independent of theaters or other operating entities like Erica Towe, Shannon Stott, Sloane Miller, and Stephen Davidson. This revenue generated from the rates below support Mary’s wages, benefits, operating costs, and contract hires. The tiered system is informed by Aorta Collective and through conversations in Improv Discussion and Resources. It is our intention in being transparent in pricing that this can serve as a first step to creating a market rate for this type of work.

What Your Fees Support
By supporting Mary’s work you are investing in a black and woman-owned business. Mary has been delivering training, consulting, coaching, and facilitation work that for almost 15 years. Her revenue has been supported primarily by work with private clients and work for hire from organizations. In the past, Mary would only have public offerings of her work through conferences or annual events hosted by other organizations. Appearances at these events often did not sustain her cost of living since the work was often unpaid and therefore not sustainable long-term. In recent years Mary has been working to make her work more consistently available and accessible to the public. The sustainability of Mary’s public offerings is based on the gift economy provided through participants’ fees. Mary accepts donations for her work which go towards providing barrier-free participation to Black, Indigenous, People of Color in the form of scholarships.
